Hootsuite is a social media management tool. It is a centralized platform for managing and automating the process of social media marketing. In addition, it is a great tool for promoting content. In this howto we are going to setup and use hootsuite to promote your blog content on social media.If you want to promote your blog, you don’t have to share the content to every social network individually. You can write a message in Hootsuite and schedule it; then, Hootsuite will send the message to all your social media accounts. Hootsuite have some limitation. The free account only allows you to add three social media network. Despite this, hootsuite is very easy to learn. One of the big advantages of Hootsuite is the automation and scheduling process. You can create a message, and schedule it for sharing automatically for future time. So let’s get started.
1- Create an account. Navigate to www.hootsuite.com, and click “get-started-free.” If you have existing social media profile with Twitter, Facebok, Google+, you can use any of these account to login. (see image at the top!)
2- Integrate your social media account with hootsuite. When you login for the first time, you’ll have the opportunity to add two more social media accounts. You don’t have to do it at that moment. You can do it at a later time.
3- Create a message to promoting your content. We are using as an example a blog post as the content to promote.
Get the link to the blog or content you wish to promote. Then, head over to the Publisher tab, and select from the dropdown box, at the top, the profiles you want to use.
Next, write your message, and insert #hashtags.
Share a links. This is what is all about. You have to attract readers to your content. And links is a way to do this. Use the “add link” box and shorten the url.
4- Select an image. Click on the “Attach Image” button, and select an image. Use Visual content to engage the readers.
Select the schedule and time. Click on the “Schedule” button and set the schedule. You have the option to turn on “Autoschedule” Finally, click “schedule”
Next go to “Schedule” tab and make sure you see your future messages waiting in a queue.
In conclusion, Hootsuite is a free tool that provides all the basic functionalities for social media management. In addition, Hootsuite can be use for more than just sharing automated content. It can also be used for generating report. You can analyze the traffic your content is generating, and how readers are following your content.
